How to Enable/Disable Cachewall from cPanel Account?

Cachewall is a Varnish cache server positioned in front of Apache. The purpose of Cachewall is to cache the contents of a website to enhance website performance and reduce loading times, as well as decrease resource usage. When the cached page is served directly, no queries are sent when a user requests the same page of your site.

It is supported by cPanel under both CentOS 6 and CentOS 7. The software can be installed in both dedicated and virtual server environments. Cachewall works with all cPanel versions, EasyApache 3, EasyApache 4, and LiteSpeed Web server.

We can set the time period for cache storage. By default, dynamic files/contents like PHP files require a much shorter cache interval. So we can set a shorter cache interval for such files.

The caching interval for static file types such as images, js files needs longer intervals of time. The cached data will be stored for the configured time and then the cache will be refreshed whenever the user requests the same page again. This allows the website to load faster if the same page is requested by another user.

Allow /Disable Cachewall

1) To start the process, log in to your cPanel hosting account.

2) Go to “Cachewall” under the software section.

3) You will see a screen similar to the image below. From this section, you can manage to Enable/Disable the Varnish, Clear the cache & can enable development mode as well.

Enabling development mode will disable Cachewall on that domain for a period of three hours, after which it will be automatically re-enabled. This gives you enough time to work on your website without experiencing any stale cache issues.

You can enable development mode by clicking the ‘Enable Development Mode’ button next to the domain name.

Sometimes caching conflicts with the website configuration. In such cases, you can also disable Cachewall for your domain by simply clicking on the “Cachewall” icon under the ‘Software’ section. Locate the domain name you want to disable caching for and then click the ‘On’ button to toggle the cache off.

The “Clear Cache” option is used to delete all the cache for your website. If you turn off Cachewall or enable Development Mode, this option will not be applicable.

After enabling Cachewall on your website, you can observe a significant improvement in website performance.
