Within this documentation, we are going to test how to transfer your WordPress.com domain to WebHostingPeople WordPress Hosting.

 

1) Purchase WordPress Hosting from WebHostingPeople.

2) Configure the theme, widget, and plugins.

It’s not possible to move theme, widgets, and plugins from WordPress.com to Self-Hosted WordPress website. Therefore, we need to configure the theme, widgets, and plugins.

3) Export the content.

Export your content from your WordPress admin panel >> Tools >> Download Export File.

4) Import the content.

Then you need to import the exported file from your new WordPress hosting admin panel >> Tools >> Import >> WordPress. Then choose your file and click ‘Add file and import’ and select the option ‘Download & Import File attachments’.

5) Transfer the domain to new hosting.

You need to either transfer your domain to new hosting or update the domain’s nameservers to point it to new hosting.

Please make sure to choose ‘Day and Title’ in Settings >> Permalinks while redirecting your permalinks.

Then your website will be live and will work fine.

6) Make the old site private.

Once the setup has been completed, make sure to make your old site private. You can set the site to private in Settings >> General.
