By default, WordPress does not include any contact form functionality, and while you can create a contacts page to provide your email address and other information, it may not be user-friendly and could result in receiving a lot of spam. Fortunately, there are several plugins available that allow you to easily add a contact form to your page. The most popular and widely used plugin for this purpose is Contact Form 7. This free plugin enables you to create and manage multiple contact forms with CAPTCHA authentication and spam filtering.

  1. To begin, go to your administrator dashboard and navigate to Plugins > Add New. Search for Contact Form 7 and click “Install Now” below the plugin in the search results. Activate it once the installation is complete.
  2. A new menu item titled “Contact” will appear in the administrator dashboard side panel. Click on it to add and configure contact forms for your website. By default, a single contact form called “Contact form 1” will be created.
  3. You can either edit the default contact form by hovering over it and clicking “Edit” or create a new contact form by selecting “Add New” from the submenu. Many users may find the default contact form sufficient as it is.
  4. The default contact form includes fields for the user’s name and email address, as well as a subject line and the actual message. To add more options, such as fields for phone numbers or website addresses, click on the “Generate Tag” dropdown box on the right. Customize the tag using the provided options, and once done, copy and paste the provided code into the text box on the left.
  5. If you want to add custom messages for the various options, scroll down to the “Messages” section.
  6. After creating or editing your contact form, click “Save” on the top-right of the page.
  7. To display the contact form on your blog, go back to the Contacts section of the dashboard. Copy and paste the provided shortcode into your contacts page. Most blog owners have a dedicated contacts page for this purpose. If you don’t have one yet, you can create a static contacts page by going to Pages > Add New. Once you have pasted the shortcode, your contacts page should look similar to the screenshot below:
