GreenGeeks to WebHostingPeople Migration

cPanel is widely used as a control panel for managing websites and settings through a user-friendly interface. WebHostingPeople offers all the necessary features on cPanel for our customers, including unlimited domain hosting, email accounts, and databases. Unlike some other hosting providers, we provide all these features. Our Standard WebHosting package comes with cPanel control panel, making the migration process from one cPanel to another very easy. GreenGeeks also provides a cPanel control panel, but it lacks the backup facility on its cPanel interface. However, don’t worry! Our Sys Admins will handle the job for you. All you need to do is back up the website contents and database from GreenGeeks and upload them to your WebHostingPeople account. This tutorial assumes that you already have a Standard Hosting package with us, so let’s get started with the steps to migrate your website from GreenGeeks to WebHostingPeople.

First, use an FTP client such as FileZilla to back up your website data to your local system. You can find instructions on how to transfer files between your hosting and the local system in our Knowledge Base at https://www.WebHostingPeople.net/tips/kb/using-filezilla-to-upload-a-website/

Once the website data backup is stored on your local system, the next step is to back up the MySQL database from GreenGeeks. Nowadays, many websites rely on databases, so it is essential to backup the database to complete the migration process. In this case, the process is the same as GreenGeeks does not provide a feature to back up the database individually. The option is to use phpMyAdmin to back up the MySQL Database. You can follow our Knowledge Base article at https://www.WebHostingPeople.net/tips/kb/how-can-i-backup-my-mysql-database/

Here are the steps to back up the database using phpMyAdmin:

1) Select the desired database from the drop-down database selection box on the left.
2) Click on the Export tab at the top of the interface.
3) Click on “Select All” to include all tables in the database, then choose “SQL” format from the drop-down menu.
4) Click on “Go” and save the database to your computer when prompted.

Once the backup generation is complete, you will need to compress all the folders into a single zip file for easy uploading to your WebHostingPeople account. After that, you can upload this backup zip file to your WebHostingPeople cPanel account using either cPanel’s File Manager feature or an FTP client like FileZilla. For instructions on how to transfer files using FileZilla to your account, please refer to our Knowledge Base article at https://www.WebHostingPeople.net/tips/kb/using-filezilla-to-upload-a-website/

Once the upload is complete, you need to open a support ticket to request a restoration of the backup file. Our support team will handle the restoration for you. You can open a ticket from your Client Portal at https://my.WebHostingPeople.net >> Support >> Open New Ticket. If you only need to restore a specific domain, please clearly mention that scenario in your ticket. Our support team will respond to your ticket shortly with regards to the migration process.

If you require any further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact our support department.
