How to Add a YouTube Video to Your WordPress Posts
Integrating a YouTube video into any article or page and even the text widget on your WordPress blog is a quick and straightforward process that shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. If you want to showcase video content from a similar video sharing site, the procedure will typically be quite similar to the one explained in this guide. By embedding videos, your visitors can watch them without leaving your site. The videos won’t actually be hosted on your own site either, so they won’t consume your own bandwidth.
- Visit youtube.com or another comparable video sharing site. Navigate to the video you want to embed in your blog article or page and click the “Share” button below the video.
- Click on “Embed” to display the code necessary to embed the content. You don’t need to manually edit the code in order to customize it since you can use the more user-friendly options provided. Specify a video size and select or deselect the other options as needed. Double-click the code in the text box above to select it and press CTRL and C on your keyboard to copy it to the clipboard.
- Login to your WordPress admin dashboard and open the article or page where you want to add the video. Alternatively, create a new article or page as needed. Simply paste the code you just copied into the location of the article or page where you want it to be displayed. Save your changes for the video to appear on your blog immediately.
- Alternatively, you can have the video appear on every page of your blog in the sidebar or other widget area. Simply go to the “Appearance” section in your admin dashboard and click on “Widgets”. Drag the Text widget to your preferred widget area in the right-side column. Click on the widget to open the configuration dialog and paste the code into the text box. Add a title and click “Save”. The video will now show up on your blog.
Most other video sharing and hosting sites provide similar functionality to what YouTube offers, allowing you to easily embed content into another blog or website without manually writing the necessary code.
